Construction Work Regulated:

Commercial, residential, and public works construction is regulated at the local/municipal level and at the state level. A statewide-certificate is granted by the construction or electrical licensing boards for most categories of licensure. Licesnes, issued at the city or county level, limit the licensees to work only in that locality. However, cities and counties who are members of the Construction Licensing Officials Associate of Florida have reciprocal agreements, which allow for the portability of the local license throughout the state. Additionally, if the category of license is one that falls under the jurisdiction of the state, the licensee must register his or her local license with the state.

Prequalification is required for state highway construction projects in excess of $250,000.
